A graveyard stretched the entire length of the rear fence, with large portions in the two corners where a woman's head and hand clawed from one grave, and a rotting torso crawled from another. In the center was an intricately designed cardboard mausoleum that Dana and Bobbie had built, and the large cactus plants were adorned by Jay with flashing skulls.
On the near side of the yard we kept a fire pit going all night, and late in the party Jay started burning all kinds of interesting things, including stale potato chips. On the far side of the yard were three tables laid out with candles for people to sit and eat or chat. Surrounding the entire area were four speakers in the corners, allowing the music to be heard without needing to be too loud.
